Teens 101 Inc. announces an engaging new toolbox of Teen Mental Health videos

October 16, 2017

Teens 101 Inc., is proud to announce the completion of a new Canadian educational series on Teen Mental Health. Teens 101 was created to provide a toolbox for teens going through stress, anxiety and other related mental health issues.  There is a very distinct need to help the youth in schools that are increasingly going through mental health crises in their school years and the Teens 101 series fills that need.  Teachers and even parents also need such resources and need that help in the form of this current and engaging tool for discussion and awareness.

The series deals with subjects such as self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, LGBTQ, depression, cyber bullying, dysfunctional family units, Aboriginal issues, etc.  Each of the 13 videos feature a youth retelling their stories, and, using high-quality dramatic re-enactments, present the mental health issues they experienced as teenagers. Viewers watch a roundtable discussion by other teenagers discussing the issues and solutions presented, and then see a doctor discussing the teenage brain and what is going on during such events as bullying, self-harm, etc.  Each video ends with a positive summary and encouragement to reach out for help.

Teens 101 was produced to be an engaging tool for teachers, students and parents enabling discussions about youth going through mental health issues, and ensuring that all students realize they need to be part of the solution.  Teens101.ca supports the Teens 101 series with teacher lesson plans, reference materials for teachers, and important information about crisis centres local to youth across Canada.

Teachers and counsellors at the school level can use Teens 101 to ensure youth realize they are not alone, and should seek the available help as well as to open discussions to all students about teen mental health.  The videos may be previewed by going to www.teen101.ca . The Teens 101 videos are available on DVD, digital file, or streaming formats, as single files or the entire library.

Teens 101 Inc. is a production company created to produce the Teens 101 series with funding from the Telus Fund. The company is based in Oakville, and is focused on creating videos that engage youth for the betterment of their mental health. Its videos are distributed in Canada by AMI Distribution, and worldwide by Magic Lantern Media.
